The emblematic piece, with over 60 years of history, will be officially presented next Friday, July 24th, at the Church of Our Lady of the Snows in Lomo Magullo. The event will begin with a Holy Mass at 7:30 PM.
This restoration becomes a heritage and sentimental gift for Telde in the commemoration of its 675th anniversary. The throne, which is also the Celestial Mayor and Perpetual Mayoress of the City, will debut in the traditional Descent of the Virgin, a celebration that turns 55 years old.
The intervention involved the disassembly, cleaning, conservation, polishing, and welding of the various parts. It was completed with a bath of 999 Silver and a protective treatment to ensure its durability.
The recovery was made possible through the collaboration of the Presidency Department of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, the Diocese of the Canary Islands, the Parish of Our Lady of the Snows, and the City Council of Telde.
The councilor for the Cumbre District and Cultural Heritage, Juan Martel, highlighted the satisfaction of preserving memory and heritage for future generations, calling it a gift for Lomo Magullo and Telde.
The Descent of the Virgin, initiated in 1971, is a deeply rooted tradition with over a century of devotion in Lomo Magullo. The throne's restoration also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Virgin's appointment as Celestial Mayor and Perpetual Mayoress of Telde.
