The vessel Portuarios Puertos de Las Palmas marked the end of the 2026 Vela Latina Canaria de Botes season by winning the Trofeo Federación. In a hard-fought race, the boat skippered by Juanjo Díaz narrowly defeated the Hospital La Paloma Pueblo Guanche, with José Ponce, and the Villa de Agüimes Ybarra, captained by Alejandro Rodríguez.
The decisive race began with 12-knot winds from the 30º. The three boats started the race, with Portuarios Puertos de Las Palmas initially leading, closely followed by Villa de Agüimes Ybarra and Hospital La Paloma Pueblo Guanche. The competition remained intense throughout the course, although Villa de Agüimes fell slightly behind at certain points.
The outcome was decided in the final stretch. After passing the breakwater, Portuarios established a lead of approximately ten seconds, a difference that proved crucial for securing victory in the final meters. Juanjo Díaz's boat crossed the finish line in 1:03:08, just one second ahead of Hospital La Paloma Pueblo Guanche (1:03:09). Villa de Agüimes Ybarra finished in 1:05:58.
With this win, Portuarios Puertos de Las Palmas concludes a successful season, adding the Trofeo Federación to the Campeonato Aguas de Teror. Pueblo Guanche, which previously won the Copa Cabildo de Gran Canaria and the Torneo Eliminatorio Fundación La Caja de Canarias, secured second place in this final event. Villa de Agüimes Ybarra completed the podium.
The regatta marks the end of the 2026 season, which featured numerous competitions and prominent participants in the bay of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Vela Latina Canaria will resume activity in March 2027, with the start of a new competitive season.
