The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, May 9, to Sunday, May 10, affecting the facilities of a well-known international car rental company in Telde. The criminals took nine vehicles and a considerable number of keys, corresponding to 52 other cars.
The National Police from the local station in Telde have launched an investigation to clarify the facts. So far, only two of the stolen vehicles have been recovered by the authorities.
The assaulted premises are located on the road accessing Tufia from the GC-1, near Gran Canaria Airport. This is an open-air area where the company stores a large part of its fleet. Initial inquiries suggest the theft took place between 00:00 and 06:00 hours. The perpetrators reportedly jumped the perimeter fence and forced a window to gain access to the offices.
Among the stolen cars are high-end models, such as two Audi Q3s, and mid-range vehicles, including a VW T Cross, two Nissan Yukes, a Kia Niro, a Kia Sportage, a VW Taigo, and a Nissan Qashqai.
Official sources from the National Police have confirmed the recovery of two vehicles. Officers from various police forces, both municipal and state, across the island have been alerted to assist in the search. To this end, a list with the license plates of the stolen automobiles has been circulated.
