UD Las Palmas has appointed Rubén de la Barrera as its new coach, trusting his career trajectory for the upcoming sports project.

Rubén de la Barrera, born in A Coruña in 1985, has been selected by UD Las Palmas to lead the team in its new phase. The Galician coach will replace Luis García on the bench, as confirmed by club sources to this newspaper. The decision was made following a meeting of the entity's leadership.
Despite his recent record including a relegation with Cultural Leonesa to Primera RFEF in the past 2025-26 season, the club places its confidence in De la Barrera. Sporting Director Luis Helguera has closely followed his career for years and trusts his capabilities.
De la Barrera was available after concluding his commitment with the Leonese team, where he could not prevent their drop in category in his final fifteen matches. His professional experience also includes international stints in Qatar, Portugal, Romania, and El Salvador. In Spain, he achieved promotions to the Second Division with Albacete in 2023 and with Cultural Leonesa in 2017.
At UD Las Palmas, they believe his "style and methodology" align with the club's objectives, especially after Luis García did not accept the renewal offer. The new coach's official presentation to the media will take place this Monday by Miguel Ángel Ramírez.
