The Santa Brígida City Council has initiated the first phase of an ambitious public lighting modernization project, with an investment exceeding 450,000 euros, aimed at improving energy efficiency and safety in various areas of the municipality.
This initiative, which seeks to reverse decades of neglect in lighting infrastructure, focuses on the reform, adaptation, and improvement of energy efficiency. The investment of 451,540 euros has been allocated to six control centers located in La Angostura, Pino Santo Alto, Castaño Bajo, Cuevas del Guanche, Cruz del Paraíso, and Gran Parada.
The project is co-financed by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, through the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN). The works, which began on March 6, include the comprehensive renovation of electrical installations, the incorporation of 480 LED luminaires, and the implementation of remote management systems.
Among the specific improvements, in Castaño Bajo, the electrical panel is being renovated, lines are being replaced, and the grounding system is being improved, in addition to installing 26 LED streetlights and 67 decorative lanterns. In La Angostura, the electrical system is being renewed, and 41 LED light points are being added. Meanwhile, Pino Santo Alto will see the installation of 92 LED luminaires with intelligent control systems.
In Cuevas del Guanche, the intervention includes the renovation of the lighting panel and the installation of 51 LED luminaires. In Cruz del Paraíso, 50 LED luminaires are being incorporated with improvements in efficiency and remote management. Finally, in Gran Parada, a comprehensive renovation of the electrical system is being carried out, including wiring, protections, and the control panel, along with the installation of 61 LED streetlights and 92 ornamental lanterns.
All control centers will benefit from the renovation of supports, arms, columns, and conduits, as well as pruning and environmental conditioning work. With these actions, the Santa Brígida City Council aims to ensure a more reliable service adapted to the current needs of citizens, enhancing safety and sustainability.
