Construction at the Insular Sports Center is progressing according to schedule, with the installation of its roof currently taking place. This intervention, involving an investment of 18.3 million euros, aims to transform the emblematic venue into a modern, accessible, and sustainable space.
The complete finalization of the project is projected for late March 2027. However, it is anticipated that the central court may be ready as early as December.
The project, named 'Mirando al mar' and executed by Construplan SL with design by the UTE Nexo Arquitectura and TPF Ingeniería, shows significant progress in its architectural envelope, notably the bamboo cladding at the facility on Las Palmas de Gran Canaria's Avenida Marítima.
The pool area is also advancing rapidly, and following the roof installation, interior work on the pavilion will commence. The civil works phase could be completed by year-end.
The future Insular Sports Center will maintain its multipurpose character, capable of hosting sports competitions and cultural events for over 3,500 people, adhering to current safety, accessibility, and comfort standards. With more than half the work completed, the venue aims to become a new sports and cultural landmark for Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the entire island.
