The Telde City Council has begun the process to select entrepreneurs to occupy and operate the four new gastronomic spaces established on the upper floor of the Municipal Market.

The Markets Department has announced the public tender for premises G1, G2, G3, and G4, located on the upper level of the market, on Calle Poeta Pablo Neruda. Each of these spaces covers approximately 33.78 square meters and shares similar construction and functional characteristics.
The selection of future occupants will be based on a scoring system of up to 100 points. The primary criterion will be the economic offer, contributing a maximum of 70 points, starting from a minimum rent set at 180.30 euros per month. An additional 20 points will be awarded for a commitment to dynamize the Market through activities linked to key commercial and festive dates, such as Christmas, Carnival, and the Day of the Canary Islands.
The remaining 10 points will be allocated based on residency or being registered in Telde. The total score will determine the order of local selection. In case of a tie, a public draw will be held.
The premises will be delivered without furniture or equipment, but with basic water and electricity connections. Successful bidders will be responsible for contracting utilities and acquiring the necessary machinery for their businesses. The call is aimed at light catering and tasting, including cafes, bakeries, pastry shops, cold tapas, gourmet products, and ready-to-eat meals, aiming to complement the market's traditional offerings.
Authorizations will have an initial duration of two years, extendable up to a maximum of four. Successful applicants will have two months to launch their establishments. This initiative is part of the municipal strategy to revitalize the Market of Abastos, blending commerce, gastronomy, and social gatherings. Mayor Juan Antonio Peña aims for this new gastronomic zone to generate extended activity, attract visitors, and foster local entrepreneurship and employment.
This tender for gastronomic spaces will be followed by another call to fill vacant stalls related to traditional food supply. The municipal intention is to advance both procedures concurrently so that the market reopens with the highest possible number of occupied spaces. The final opening of the building still awaits the completion of the electrical supply and service procedures with the Ministry of Industry of the Government of the Canary Islands.

"The four gastronomic spaces can be visited in person before submitting proposals. Administrative inquiries can be made through the Public Sector Contracting Platform or at the municipal offices in El Cubillo."
