The San Juan Square in Telde became the epicenter of Canarian popular culture this past weekend. The 'Encuentro de Solistas 8 Islas' (8 Islands Soloists' Meeting) brought together eight artists from different parts of the Archipelago for a night dedicated to the music and identity of the Canary Islands.
This event, part of the commemorative activities for Canary Islands Month and the 675th anniversary of the Founding of Telde, attracted numerous residents and visitors. The evening was presented by Eduardo Santana Quintana and featured performances by Yesica García, Sandra Sarrias, Iván Díaz Corujo, Inma Leal, Joel Rodríguez, Paola Rodríguez, Aymara López Rosa, and Manuel Arteaga.
The soloists offered a repertoire filled with emotion and folklore, performing songs that connect with the cultural roots of the Archipelago. Traditional music and solo voices were the protagonists of this initiative promoted by the Department of Culture of the Telde City Council.
The Councilor for Culture, Juan Martel, who attended the event, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in showcasing Canarian musical talent and strengthening traditions. This year's celebration holds special significance as it coincides with the 675th anniversary of the city's founding.
During the event, recognition was also given to the work of the 'El Salitre del Faycán' Cultural Association for its contribution to the organization. The Department of Culture reaffirms its commitment to activities that keep traditions alive and reinforce the sense of Canarian identity among citizens.
