The Telde City Council has approved the tender for the comprehensive renovation of the football fields at La Herradura and Las Huesas, with a combined budget of over 1.1 million euros.

The Governing Board of Telde, chaired by mayor Juan Antonio Peña, unanimously approved the contracting file for the replacement of artificial turf, the renovation of irrigation systems, and complementary works in both sports facilities. The total investment amounts to 1,117,235.70 euros.
The majority of the funding, approximately 88.5% (989,287 euros), comes from the Cabildo of Gran Canaria through the Additional Investment Plan in the Municipalities of Gran Canaria 2024 (PAI 2024). The Telde City Council completes the investment with its own funds, contributing 127,948.70 euros.
The La Herradura field will be entirely financed by a grant from the Cabildo of 569,994.66 euros. For Las Huesas, the island institution contributes 419,292.34 euros, and the City Council covers the remaining 127,948.70 euros.
Interested companies will have a period of 20 calendar days to submit their offers after the announcement is published on the Contractor's Profile and the Public Sector Contracting Platform. The works will include the removal of deteriorated artificial turf, renovation of irrigation systems, replacement of pumping equipment, and improvements to elements such as goalposts and benches.
Mayor Juan Antonio Peña thanked the involvement of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, emphasizing that collaboration between administrations allows for undertaking works of this magnitude. He noted that the action responds to a long-standing demand from clubs and neighborhoods, and that the investment will provide safer and more modern playing fields.
The Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Cristhian Santana, highlighted that the renovation is strategic for grassroots sports in Telde, investing in health and the daily life of the neighborhoods.
