The Ministry of Public Works of the Government of the Canary Islands has announced that the entrance ramp to the Santidad neighborhood, from the GC-20 road towards the GC-300, will be shut down. This measure is necessary to advance the works on the roundabout accessing Arucas, known as the Cruz Roja roundabout.
The closure will require modifying the usual detours, redirecting traffic to Santidad via alternative routes. The Arucas City Council has issued a statement detailing the options for drivers. For those heading to Santidad, it is recommended to take the ARUCAS-FIRGAS (GC-20) exit from the GC-3 ring road, continue towards the Trasmontaña roundabout in the direction of Cardones-Santidad, and drive along Avenida Pedro Morales Déniz. Another alternative is to use the GC-43 (Carretera Visvique) and at the intersection with the GC-300 (Carretera Los Castillos), continue to Santidad.
To access Arucas from Santidad, the suggested route is to drive along Avenida Pedro Morales Déniz to the exit onto the GC-3 ring road and make a U-turn at the Las Mesas roundabout, heading towards Arucas.
The road closure is expected to last approximately 40 days, primarily due to the connection of the water outlet to the ravine bed. The city council has stated its intention to shorten the deadlines as much as possible. Furthermore, citizens are advised to consult the Guaguas Global website for information on possible changes to schedules and stops, and patience is appreciated for any inconvenience these works may cause.
