The Ministry of Public Works, Housing, and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Directorate General of Road Infrastructure, has announced a new phase of works on the Arucas ring road (GC-20). These works, corresponding to the final stage of the conditioning project, focus on laying the last pending layer of asphalt.
To ensure safety, temporary closures and alternative traffic diversions will be implemented. The tasks, with an estimated duration of two weeks, will be carried out primarily during nighttime hours, between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. The planned schedule for this first phase covers from tomorrow until next Thursday.
During the nights of tomorrow and Tuesday, June 16th, asphalting works will concentrate on the roundabout near the gas station and its access points. Although the Visvique and Arucas roundabouts will remain operational, the main carriageway of the GC-20 will be closed. Vehicles traveling from Firgas towards Las Palmas wishing to access Arucas or continue towards the capital must use the Los Callejones road. Drivers traveling from Arucas towards Firgas will use the Carretera del Pino and subsequently the Poeta Pedro Lezcano promenade.
On the night of Monday, June 15th, the works will affect the section between the gas station roundabout and the Visvique roundabout. This will require the total closure of the exit ramp from the gas station roundabout towards Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the underpass at the Visvique junction, and the access ramp to the GC-20 from the Visvique roundabout in the direction of Firgas. Vehicles coming from Firgas heading to Las Palmas will access the capital via the Poeta Pedro Lezcano promenade and exit at the Visvique roundabout. Those traveling from Arucas towards Firgas must use the Carretera del Pino and continue along the Poeta Pedro Lezcano promenade.
On Wednesday, June 17th, work will be carried out on the Visvique roundabout, necessitating the temporary closure of all its accesses and ramps. Alternative routes via the GC-303 and GC-300 roads will be used to access Arucas, Las Palmas, or Visvique.
Finally, on Thursday, June 18th, asphalting works will be executed on a section of the GC-20, in both directions of circulation, prior to the underpass providing access to Arucas from the Cruz Roja area. This closure will require diverting traffic from Firgas, Arucas, and Las Palmas through the Santidad, Cardones, and Lomo Arucas interchanges.
