Two minors, aged 8 and 9, were rescued by lifeguards at El Reducto beach in Arrecife after an inflatable boat they were in was carried 200 meters out to sea by strong winds.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of last Saturday, around 4:45 PM, when the rescue team spotted a small inflatable boat rapidly moving away from the coast. A boy and a girl, aged 8 and 9 respectively, were on board.
What began as a playful moment quickly turned dangerous due to the strong winds pushing the boat further out to sea. Lifeguards responded promptly, entering the water to reach the vessel and bring the children to safety, who were already approximately 200 meters from the shore.

"The wind was the main trigger of the incident, rapidly pushing the boat out to sea."

service report
Following the successful rescue, the minors were reunited with their mother, who explained that she had briefly left to retrieve something from her vehicle when the children entered the water. The professional intervention of the lifeguard team resolved the situation without personal injuries, thus averting a potential tragedy.
The Arrecife City Council maintains a daily surveillance service at El Reducto beach, one of the main sandy areas of the Lanzarote capital, which also boasts a blue flag and adapted signage systems for people with color blindness.
