The incident, in which two hooded individuals armed with a machete stole money from the cash register, has caused significant shock in the neighborhood. According to a spokesperson for the neighborhood association, the event has left local business owners "scared," including nearby establishments such as a pharmacy and a bookstore.
“"They went through a very big scare, and it's not right."
The assailants, who fled in a presumably stolen vehicle, completed the robbery in a matter of minutes. This event has reignited concerns about security in Tafira Alta, where residents claim to have reported a feeling of insecurity for the past three years.
The community, which uses a messaging group to alert each other about potential incidents, is now calling for more frequent patrols in their streets. The neighborhood spokesperson emphasizes that the situation of neglect is not exclusive to Tafira Alta but extends to other neighborhoods in the capital, and believes that the current feeling of insecurity has reached a critical point.
