The Canarian Emergency Service (SUC) has presented the Ariadna RCP application to the thousand participants of the Run Stay Alive race, held in the Parque Romano in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with the aim of promoting citizen awareness about cardiovascular health.

The initiative, organized by the Canarian Society of Cardiology, aims to improve response to cardiac arrests. The Ariadna RCP app functions as a collaborative map that allows users to contribute to a rapid response, as well as facilitating the location of the nearest semi-automatic external defibrillator (AED) and the activation of emergency services.
With the integration of this application, the Canary Islands become the second autonomous community, after Galicia, to incorporate this tool into its health emergency system. Ariadna, developed by the Spanish Society of Cardiology (SEC), the Spanish Heart Foundation (FEC), and the Red Cross, raises the level of cardiac protection in the islands and represents a significant advancement in the fight against out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in Spain.
Unlike in other autonomous communities, in the Canary Islands, any person can perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use a semi-automatic defibrillator, provided they have remote assistance from a health coordinator of the SUC from the emergency room, which increases the potential number of users for this application.
The Ariadna application is available for download on Google Play and the App Store. To collaborate, users must allow the reception of notifications and the geolocation of their devices, so that the SUC can know their location and send them alerts in case of an emergency in which they can intervene.
