On Thursday and Friday, the Faculty of Philology at ULPGC served as the venue for this meeting, held under the theme Enseigner et apprendre en français aujourd’hui. The event was inaugurated by David Pablos, Director General of Educational Planning, Inclusion, and Innovation of the Government of the Canary Islands, alongside the rector of ULPGC, Lluís Serra Majem; the dean of the Faculty of Philology, Dolores Fernández, and the director of the International Francophone Hub, Verónica Trujillo.
The workshops were aimed at teachers from Primary, Secondary, and Official Language Schools, as well as educators involved in the CLIL-ÉMILE and Bachibac programs. University faculty and French students from Canary Islands public universities also attended. David Pablos emphasized the importance of these days in promoting multilingualism and the Ministry's support for programs like CLIL and Bachibac, in addition to teacher training.
The event addressed key topics such as artificial intelligence and digital tools applied to the classroom, bilingual education, intercultural education, and multilingualism. Special attention was given to the CLIL-ÉMILE and Bachibac programs, and resources like music, literature, and comics were proposed, alongside active methodologies and content related to Africa and Francophone cultures.
Specialists from universities such as Montpellier Paul-Valéry, Paris 8 Vincennes-Saint-Denis, the University of the Basque Country, the University of Salamanca, the University of Castilla-La Mancha, the University of La Laguna, and Casa África participated. Among the notable speakers was Christian Puren, professor emeritus and a leading international specialist in the didactics of French as a foreign language.
The closing ceremony took place this Friday with further training sessions and workshops, completing two days dedicated to the exchange of experiences and the proposal of new educational practices. This first edition aims to establish itself as a meeting point for the Francophone educational community in the Canary Islands, strengthening collaboration among teachers, universities, and institutions.
