The Jesús Arencibia Cultural Space, a new facility in Tamaraceite honoring the Gran Canarian painter, has begun its operations. The center features six distinct environments distributed over three floors.
Its facilities include classrooms, spaces for music, workshops, talks, an auditorium with a capacity for 345 people, and a youth area with a library comprising a reading room, study zone, and group work rooms. Additionally, there is a multipurpose hall for exhibitions.
The space is launching with an active program that will offer weekly cultural proposals aimed at local residents, those from other city neighborhoods, and visitors from nearby municipalities.
“"FRANCA is born from discomfort. From that persistent unease that affects us as women when we feel something doesn't fit, taking the form of inequality, imposed silence disguised as freedom, inherited guilt, repeating patterns, and invisible stories. I approached Franca Rame's texts like opening an old diary and finding that the words, though dusty, still burn."
The play 'Franca', which lends its name to the inauguration, is presented as a reflection on inequality, imposed silence, and historical patterns affecting women, inspired by the texts of Franca Rame.
The event will take place on Thursday, October 8th, from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM, with a capacity of 355 seats. The ticket price is €10.00.
