Arístides González and Cathaisa Sánchez claimed victory in the men's and women's Elite categories, respectively, at the 9th Atlefulca Barranco de Telde Cross Duathlon 2026. The event, organized by the Club Deportivo Atlefulca Telde, gathered more than 75 athletes in the Barranco Real of Telde.
The competition required participants to complete a course consisting of 4 kilometers of running, followed by 14 kilometers of mountain biking (BTT), and concluding with another 2 kilometers of running.
The Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Cristhian Santana Caballero, congratulated the organizing club for the success in participation and organization. He highlighted the importance of maintaining competitions in the municipal calendar that combine sport, nature, and citizen participation, and emphasized the role of local clubs in energizing the municipality's sports scene.
In the men's competition, Avelino Santos from C.D. Atlefulca Miguel León secured third place. The relay format also added excitement, with wins for Tinguaro Ramos and Manuel León (men's), Luisa Alemán and Eva Ramos (women's), and Blas Rivero and Dominique Van Mechgelen (mixed). In the mixed relays, the pair from Atlefulca Miguel León, Derio Rodríguez and Davinia Déniz, took third position.
The youth category, Kid, also had its space, with over a dozen children participating in an adapted course, focusing on fun, camaraderie, and sports initiation.
The organization expressed gratitude for the athletes' participation and the collaboration of sponsors, institutions, volunteers, and everyone who made this ninth edition possible, establishing it as a significant sports event in the municipality.
