The cyclist from Telde, Avelino Santos, representing the Atlefulca Miguel León club, has concluded the Škoda Titan Desert Almería 2026 in a distinguished 9th place within the M50 category. This performance places him among the top ten in his age group after four intense days of competition.
The event, one of the most demanding on the national BTT calendar, brought together 570 cyclists from 27 nationalities. Over four days, participants covered more than 300 kilometers and accumulated 6,600 meters of positive elevation gain, tackling varied mountain and coastal routes in the province of Almería under particularly harsh conditions.
The Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports of the Telde City Council, Cristhian Santana Caballero, congratulated Avelino Santos on his result. "Achieving a Top-10 in a race like the Titan Desert Almería speaks to Avelino's ability to face great challenges and compete at the highest level," stated Santana, emphasizing how athletes from Telde are projecting the municipality's name in prestigious events.
Santana also acknowledged Santos's strong competitive capacity throughout the four days, maintaining his fight for the top positions until the end. "I want to congratulate him on this magnificent ninth place and also recognize the work of Atlefulca Miguel León, which contributes to the growth and projection of sports in Telde," he added.
The Atlefulca Miguel León club highlighted that the cyclist maintained his objective of finishing in the top ten throughout the competition, even coming close to seventh place and contending for prominent positions until the final stage. The club emphasized that the result "rewards consistency, preparation, and, above all, the ability to fight until the last meter."
