The Canary Islands Wrestling Team held its official training session this Wednesday at the Amado Díaz Guillén Municipal Arena in Telde, finalizing its preparation for the Korea Open Ssireum Festival, which will take place in South Korea from November 30 to December 6.

The Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports of the Telde City Council, Cristhian Santana Caballero, attended the session and wished the expedition success. "It is an honor to host the Canary Islands Wrestling Team in Telde as they prepare for an international competition of this magnitude," stated Santana, emphasizing the importance of Canarian wrestling as part of the archipelago's history and identity. He also acknowledged the efforts of those who facilitate these sporting exchanges.
The expedition is led by Norberto Marrero Gordillo, technical director of the Federation, and was also attended by Master Shin, a key figure in sports exchanges between the Canary Islands and South Korea, which strengthen cultural ties through their respective traditional wrestling disciplines.
The Canarian team traveling to South Korea includes the following athletes: Puntales A: Eusebio Ledesma (C.L. Chimbesque), Alberto Zamora (C.L. Unión Gáldar), and Elieser Gutiérrez (C.L. Almogarén); Puntales B: Ismael Déniz (C.L. Unión Agüimes), Raúl Peñate (C.L. Aridane), and Francisco Pérez (C.L. Castro Morales); and the female wrestlers Delioma Armas (C.L. Santa Rita) and Lorena Mateo (C.L. Almogarén).
The choice of Telde as a training venue underscores the city's role in the international projection of Canarian wrestling, taking this discipline beyond the archipelago's borders.
