The Telde Senior Center has brought the ‘Living Memories’ project to a close, an initiative that over four months served as a platform for the municipality's seniors to share their personal experiences and recollections.
During the sessions, participants had the opportunity to recall significant moments from their lives, exchange stories, and relive experiences linked to their families, customs, and surroundings. The program facilitated a space for dialogue and coexistence, where each testimony contributed to the recovery of the protagonists' individual and collective memory.
The Councilor for Social Services of the Telde City Council, Adela Álvarez, highlighted the importance of promoting activities that give voice to seniors and allow for the understanding of the narratives that have shaped their lives.
“
"‘Living Memories’ is much more than an activity. It is an opportunity to listen to and recognize our elders, because their memories and experiences are part of our history. Over these four months, we have seen the immense value of their testimonies and all that they still have to contribute to our society."
Álvarez also emphasized the necessity of maintaining a program that encourages the active participation of seniors, offering them opportunities to interact, express their concerns, and enjoy activities tailored to their interests.
“
"We want our senior centers to be vibrant spaces for meeting and participation. Activities like this help strengthen relationships among people, combat loneliness, and, above all, recognize the significant role our elders play in society."
With the conclusion of ‘Living Memories’, the Telde Senior Center wraps up a four-month period focused on personal stories and recollections. The Social Services Department extends its gratitude to all participants for their involvement and willingness to share these experiences that are part of Telde's heritage.
