The Telde City Council will illuminate the El Cubillo municipal building in green this Saturday, October 10th, for World Mental Health Day, and has announced a conference for October 21st.

The El Cubillo municipal building in Telde will be lit in green this Saturday, October 10th, to commemorate World Mental Health Day. This initiative, driven by the Department of Health and coordinated with the Public Lighting area, aims to raise awareness about the importance of mental health care.
The special lighting seeks to draw attention to a reality affecting people of all ages, promoting open conversation about mental health, combating existing prejudices, and encouraging those facing difficulties to seek support. Councilor for Health, Janoa Anceaume, emphasized the need to discuss mental health naturally, stating that "behind many situations we don't see are people who need understanding, listening, and support."
As part of the commemorative actions, the Telde City Council will host a conference titled "La Mente Gira" (The Mind Turns) on Wednesday, October 21st, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Juan Ramón Jiménez Municipal Theater. Admission will be free until full capacity.
The conference will be led by psychologist Ariel Déniz Robaina, a professional with over 25 years of experience in the mental health field. This event, promoted by the Department of Health, will dedicate an afternoon to addressing mental health-related issues with a specialized professional, expanding awareness efforts beyond October 10th.
Anceaume highlighted the importance of accompanying symbolic gestures with activities that allow for direct engagement with the topic. "We want citizens to have opportunities to talk about mental health, listen to professionals, and better understand situations that are often experienced in silence. Taking care of our emotional health should be as natural as attending to any other aspect of our health," she stated.
The illumination of El Cubillo and the conference on October 21st are the two main actions planned by the Telde City Council for this commemoration. The color green, an international symbol for mental health awareness, will be featured in the lighting of the municipal building on Saturday night.
