The facade of the main building of the Telde City Council, located in El Cubillo, will be lit green this Monday, October 5th, to commemorate World Meningitis Day. This initiative, driven by the Department of Health, led by Janoa Anceaume, and in collaboration with the Public Lighting area, coordinated by Juan Francisco Artiles, aims to raise awareness about the disease.
Through this symbolic gesture, the Council intends to raise public awareness about meningitis, highlight the importance of recognizing its symptoms, and show support for affected individuals and their families. It also acknowledges the work of organizations and professionals dedicated to the care, prevention, and awareness of this condition.
“"From institutions, we also have the responsibility to help raise awareness about diseases that have a real impact on many people and families. Lighting up our City Council green is a simple gesture, but it allows us to draw attention to meningitis and remember the importance of being informed and sensitized."
The Head of Health, Janoa Anceaume, emphasized the institutional responsibility in making diseases with social impact visible. "Health is also built through information and prevention," she stated, highlighting the department's commitment to bringing awareness messages to citizens and fostering a more informed society dedicated to health care.
The Telde City Council thus reaffirms its commitment to promoting health and citizen awareness, joining international dates that focus on various diseases and give visibility to those who live with them. The facade will remain illuminated in green throughout October 5th.
