The municipality of El Rosario has become the only one in Tenerife selected to participate in the European project LIFE 4ENERAGENCIES, an initiative co-financed by the European Union that will create four new local energy agencies in Spain.

The El Rosario proposal was successful among more than thirty applications submitted for this funding line, thus reinforcing the European projection of municipal sustainability policies. The Councilor for Ecological Transition, Fidel Vázquez, participated yesterday in Arucas in the project's first working day, held at the headquarters of the Mancomunidad del Norte de Gran Canaria. The meeting brought together representatives from the three Gran Canaria associations of municipalities, the Island Council of Energy of Gran Canaria, the El Rosario City Council, the European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and the Environment (FEDARENE), and the specialized consultancy ESCAN.
The initiative includes the establishment of four local energy agencies: three linked to the associations of municipalities of Gran Canaria and a fourth in El Rosario. These structures will act as support tools for local administrations to plan and develop projects related to renewable energies, energy saving, and sustainable mobility.
“

"That El Rosario is the only municipality in Tenerife chosen from over 30 proposals is great news and an opportunity to continue advancing in our commitment to sustainability. Being part of this European project will allow us to share experiences, incorporate new knowledge, and improve our capacity to promote energy initiatives that directly benefit citizens."

Among the planned lines of action are the promotion of renewable energies, the improvement of energy efficiency, the development of sustainable mobility solutions, and the incorporation of digital tools to optimize energy management. The agencies will also be used to design strategies adapted to the needs of each territory and facilitate the development of projects at the municipal and regional levels.
With this initiative, LIFE 4ENERAGENCIES will contribute to advancing European climate objectives for 2030 and the goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. For El Rosario, its participation represents a new opportunity to strengthen its energy transition policies and consolidate its commitment to a cleaner, more efficient energy model that is committed to the well-being of its citizens.
