The activity, part of the V Security and Emergencies Conference organized by the Agüimes City Council, aimed to equip students with basic knowledge for emergency situations. The approximately eighty students learned fundamental maneuvers to provide assistance until health resources arrive.
SUC workshops focus on teaching students to assess a person's consciousness in case of syncope or fainting, and to apply the recovery position. A team of SUC professionals, under the Canary Islands Government's Ministry of Health, delivered the training.
During the sessions, students practiced recognizing cardiac arrest and acting when a person is not breathing, performing resuscitation maneuvers. They also received training on how to act in case of choking, a common emergency where prompt intervention can save lives.
