The El Rosario City Council has reported that the works, which began in the first phase, are nearing completion. The project is financed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda (80%), the El Rosario City Council itself (16.89%), and the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canary Housing Institute (3.11%).
The works include the complete renovation of the sanitation, rainwater collection, and water distribution networks. Additionally, new public lighting will be installed, and both the urbanization and the internal pedestrian walkways between the housing blocks will be repaved. These improvements aim to modernize basic infrastructure, optimize services, and enhance accessibility conditions, as well as contribute to the energy efficiency of the facilities.
The mayor of El Rosario, Escolástico Gil, highlighted the project's importance, which has been in progress since 2018. "With this action, we will improve the entire urbanization, where about 220 residents live, renewing the supply and rainwater pipelines and improving accessibility, in addition to incorporating energy efficiency measures in the homes in a later phase," he stated.
This intervention is the first phase of a comprehensive urban regeneration project covering all 66 homes in Luciana Díaz, with a total investment amounting to 2.5 million euros. The project is part of the Degraded Areas Rehabilitation program of the State Plan for Access to Housing 2022-2025, through collaboration between the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda, the Government of the Canary Islands, the Tenerife Island Council, and the El Rosario City Council.
The residential complex consists of seven blocks of terraced houses and other blocks of 12 and 6 homes, distributed with pedestrian walkways and garden areas. The overall project also includes the renovation of telecommunications networks, improvement of gardens, and installation of new urban furniture, as well as measures to enhance the energy efficiency of 30 homes from the first phase.
