The Cabildo of Fuerteventura will hold on October 27 and 28 a meeting of the European project JAREAS on the artisanal fishing sector, which will bring together 12 entities from ten territories to share experiences and promote the blue economy.

The JAREAS project, co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), aims to foster innovation, training, economic diversification, and the valorization of fishing products. Visits to the fishing guilds of Corralejo and Gran Tarajal will provide firsthand insight into the reality of Majorera artisanal fishing.
The meeting will begin on Tuesday, October 27, at the Insular Center for Youth of Fuerteventura in Puerto del Rosario, with an institutional welcome by the president of the Cabildo, Lola García. The project's objectives will be presented, and the Project Coordination and Governance Body will be established.
A transnational workshop titled "Building JAREAS" will be held, where participating entities will collaboratively define the project's identity and key stakeholders. The public company Gesplan is also involved in the project.
On Wednesday, October 28, activities will move to the fishing guilds of Corralejo and Gran Tarajal to learn about the local artisanal fishing reality, its infrastructure, organization, and main challenges, and to exchange experiences.
