The company Future Engineering Ros has filed a lawsuit against the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council. The firm claims that the tender to recover the Isla de Mar summer terrace, located on the municipal plot in Cabo Llanos, was declared void and "null," demanding that the procedure be resumed. The company asserts that the evaluation process for the bids was "flawed" or "tainted."
Future Engineering Ros had submitted a project for a large leisure space exceeding 3,000 square meters, including acoustic correction measures. However, the City Council's contracting board rejected their proposal along with those of the other two participating companies, declaring the tender void in June 2025. Subsequently, the council announced plans to demolish the abandoned premises and establish a temporary parking lot.
The plaintiff company requests that the City Government's agreement declaring the tender void be annulled and that the contracting board's actions be declared null due to alleged violations of the principles of equality, transparency, and objectivity. Future Engineering Ros argues that the city needs a quality nightlife entertainment offer and regrets that this opportunity has been "let go."
The Isla de Mar terrace permanently closed in December 2021 following disagreements between the managing company and the City Council over canon payments. Since then, the premises have suffered vandalism. The City Council plans to demolish the structure and convert the plot into temporary parking before the end of 2026, but the ongoing judicial proceedings halt any action on the site.
