The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has fined the company responsible for the maintenance of the Acidalio Lorenzo Municipal Pool due to 17 serious breaches detected during 2025.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has imposed a fine of 16,305 euros on Lirecan Servicios Integrales, the contractor for the maintenance of the Acidalio Lorenzo Municipal Pool. This decision follows the detection of seventeen serious breaches in the service execution throughout 2025, as confirmed by the Councilor for Sports, Alicia Cebrián.
These breaches, classified as "serious" by the Council, have resulted in "significant negative consequences" and "general deterioration of the facility," impacting competitions and activity scheduling. Councilor Cebrián emphasized the need to penalize the company to improve service quality and the pool's usability.
Technical reports from the past year highlighted "defective" work, uncompleted tasks, missed maintenance, and deficiencies in specialized technical operations, particularly concerning "pool engineering." The imposed penalties will be deducted from the company's next invoice. Their maintenance contract is set to conclude on March 30, 2027.
Concurrently, the sports department announced ongoing improvement works on the pool's changing rooms and accessibility. The City Council is also seeking funding for a comprehensive renovation of the complex, which includes creating a gym, building new stands, adding parking facilities, and opening a cafeteria, with an estimated investment of 15 million euros.
