The Auditorio de Tenerife launches its organ concert season with a performance by Juan de la Rubia, titular organist of the Sagrada Familia Basilica in Barcelona. The Valencian musician will present a program focused on the work of George Frideric Handel, accompanied by the Orquesta Barroca de Tenerife.
The concert, scheduled for Sunday the 13th at 12:00 PM in the Symphonic Hall, features De la Rubia performing a selection of Handel's pieces, including the overture from the opera Rodelinda and works from opp. 4 and 7. These compositions, originally conceived by Handel himself for performance in London, blend melodic brilliance and instrumental virtuosity.
The program also includes the Concerto in B-flat major HWV 288 and a brief sonata for violin and basso continuo from op. 1, showcasing the composer's diverse genres. The performance by the Orquesta Barroca de Tenerife using historical instruments will highlight the clarity and versatility of the Auditorio's organ, a state-of-the-art instrument with 3,835 pipes.
Handeliana I is a historically informed approach aiming to keep Baroque music alive in the 21st century. The cycle will continue on December 13th with Handeliana II, performed by organist Alfonso Sebastián and the same orchestra.

Juan de la Rubia boasts a distinguished international career, having performed in over thirty countries and collaborated with orchestras such as the Spanish National Orchestra and the RTVE Symphony Orchestra. He has also founded his own orchestra, the Orquestra del Miracle, and specializes in improvisations for silent films.
The Orquesta Barroca de Tenerife, established over seven years, continues its mission to promote historicist music in the Canary Islands, supported by the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo de Tenerife.
