The Juan XXIII neighborhood in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will have a new covered sports park by the beginning of next year, an infrastructure project that has required an investment of 2.5 million euros.

The intervention, which began in August of last year, aims to transform the neighborhood's old sports center into a multifunctional space. This new facility will not only offer futsal and basketball courts but will also integrate areas for all ages, including calisthenics zones, a playground, and a space for pets.
One of the most notable features of this facility is its open yet covered design, a typology rarely seen in the municipality. This structure will allow for sports practice protected from weather conditions, significantly improving usage conditions compared to the previous facilities, which lacked proper enclosures.
The project, agreed upon with the neighborhood association, also includes the installation of a fixed stage for cultural activities and seating areas with urban furniture. Access to the facility will be free during the day, while a nighttime closing schedule will be established to ensure the rest of the residents and prevent misuse of the space.
This action is part of the municipal strategy to decentralize investments towards the neighborhoods, creating new meeting points outside the city center. With this work, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council seeks to settle a historical debt with the Ofra-Costa Sur area, improving the quality of life for local families.
