In the first quarter of 2026, judicial bodies in the Canary Islands received 101,662 cases, resolved 95,177, and had 269,481 pending at the end of the period. These figures represent a 29% decrease in incoming cases, a 20% decrease in resolutions, and a 1% decrease in pending cases compared to the first quarter of 2025.
The civil jurisdiction experienced a considerable reduction, with 42,317 incoming cases, 37,999 resolved, and 167,943 pending. This signifies a 45% drop in incoming cases, a 31% drop in resolutions, and a 7% drop in pending cases compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the criminal jurisdiction, 48,339 cases were filed, 46,921 were resolved, and 56,691 remained pending. The figures show a 5% decrease in incoming cases and an 8% decrease in resolved cases, while pending cases increased by 14% compared to the first quarter of 2025.
The contentious-administrative jurisdiction registered 2,606 incoming cases, 2,626 resolutions, and 17,560 pending cases. These figures imply a 60% decrease in incoming cases, a 46% decrease in resolutions, and a 3% decrease in pending cases compared to the previous year.
Finally, in the social jurisdiction, 8,400 cases were filed, 7,631 were resolved, and 27,287 remained pending. This translates to a 1% decrease in incoming cases, an 8% decrease in resolutions, and a 16% increase in pending cases compared to the same period of 2025.
