The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has confirmed that its coastline's bathing waters maintain the highest quality guarantees. Official analyses, updated on June 22 and conducted by the health surveillance program of the Government of the Canary Islands, ratify that both Las Teresitas beach and the bathing areas of Valleseco remain suitable for use.
These reports support the good sanitary condition of these areas, coinciding with the start of the peak season for user influx. Controls carried out by the competent health authority confirm that Las Teresitas and the bathing zones of Valleseco-Los Charcos and Valleseco-El Bloque comply with current regulations for bathing areas.
The mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, highlighted that these results offer peace of mind to the thousands of users of the coastline, a result of the City Council's continuous efforts in infrastructure and maintenance. For his part, the Councilor for Public Services and Environment, Carlos Tarife, emphasized that the measurements correspond to the official program of the Government of the Canary Islands.
The annual bathing water classification for Las Teresitas remains 'Excellent', as does that for the Valleseco-El Bloque area. Valleseco-Los Charcos is also listed as suitable. Visual inspections detected no residues, oils, foams, or other elements that could affect the sanitary conditions.
The City Council reminds that sanitary control is periodic and results are published by the competent administration. In recent years, significant actions have been taken at Las Teresitas to modernize infrastructure, improve services, and enhance conservation, including the rehabilitation of the breakwater, improvement of access, and the implementation of an intelligent traffic management system.
Environmental conservation initiatives have been promoted, such as the scientific monitoring program for angel sharks that breed at Las Teresitas. The beach has a sufficient human and technical rescue and lifeguard service, including lifeguards, a Health Emergency Technician, a University Nursing Graduate, and a coordinator, as well as an ambulance and boats.
The Local Police also increase their presence in summer with a permanent police post at the beach, collaborating on traffic matters and crime prevention at access points and parking areas.
