The mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, highlighted the positive response from citizens and the usefulness of complementing public space renovations with activity. "When a street is transformed and we put it at the service of the citizens, residents respond and fill it with life," he stated, emphasizing the municipal commitment to improving neighborhoods and creating opportunities.
The councilor for the Centro-Ifara district, Purificación Dávila, valued the diversity of scheduled activities, which ranged from children's and family proposals with games and face painting, to musical performances, dance exhibitions by the Genaro Arteaga Flamenco School and Wonder Dance Center, and sports activities such as hockey, pickleball, and mini-golf.
Young people enjoyed a specific space with tote bag workshops, role-playing games, wellness and beauty activities, and a photographic exhibition. Music enlivened the day in different sections of the street, creating a festive atmosphere.
The 'Vive La Rosa' day is part of the transformation of the street and the City Council's commitment to the recovery of public spaces, aiming for citizens to discover and enjoy the renovated areas.
In parallel, the Alameda del Duque de Santa Elena hosted the first edition of 'Mojitos Vacilón Fest', an event that bid farewell to summer with music, gastronomy, and dancing, bringing together different generations and revitalizing the city center.
Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez highlighted the Alameda's potential as a meeting point, combining culture, leisure, and economic activity. Councilor for Festivals, Javier Caraballero, and Councilor Purificación Dávila emphasized the diversification of leisure offerings and the boost to commercial and hospitality sectors.
The 'Mojitos Vacilón Fest' program included musical performances by Calle Obispo, Aradance, and DJ Sistah Vibes, as well as a children's area, food trucks, and the participation of establishments from Zona Centro.
