The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council is finalizing preparations for the visit of Pope Leo XIV on June 12th, which will include the distribution of thousands of commemorative items and a comprehensive organizational plan.

The Council has announced the distribution of 10,000 caps, 10,000 bracelets, and 10,000 commemorative fans, in addition to 50,000 bottles of water for attendees. However, no details have been provided regarding the cost of this papal merchandising for public funds.
The mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, stated that the pontiff's visit represents an "important boost for the commercial, tourist, and service activity" of the capital, highlighting its institutional and social relevance for the city's international projection.
To ensure the best possible welcome, an organizational plan has been designed combining logistics, promotion, and citizen participation. Bermúdez emphasized the event's importance, assuring that the city will rise to the occasion and offer an exemplary welcome.
For his part, the Councilor for Festivals, Javier Caraballero, noted the desire for "the entire city to participate in this historic celebration," preparing special decorations along the route and at strategic points.
The city will display a special image with welcome banners, large-format posters at the City Council's facade, and main access points. The emblematic Flower Clock and municipal gardens will be decorated with the Vatican's colors.
A giant screen with a sound system will be installed near the event venue, pending technical confirmation, to follow the mass presided over by Pope Leo XIV live. The City Council is working in coordination with other administrations to ensure the safe and organized development of the day.
