The municipality of Tegueste will participate in European Mobility Week 2026, celebrated annually from September 16 to 22. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of moving towards more sustainable, safe, and accessible transportation models for all citizens.
From September 19 to 24, Tegueste will host a series of activities focused on encouraging walking, cycling, and the use of sustainable transport. The goal is also to promote mobility adapted to the needs of all residents, regardless of their age or abilities.
“"Sustainable mobility must be part of building a friendlier, healthier, and more accessible municipality. From Tegueste, we want to use this initiative to raise awareness and, at the same time, present alternatives that allow all people to travel safely and comfortably, regardless of their age or capabilities."
The Councilor for Mobility, Javier Galván, highlighted that the program aims to bring sustainable mobility closer to citizens through various initiatives, such as safe school routes and cycling tours. The intention is to promote healthier and more sustainable habits, and to continue advancing towards a Tegueste designed for people.
The municipal program includes activities such as Metrominuto, the route “Una bici más. Tegueste” (One more bike. Tegueste), and the Pediguagua project, in collaboration with CEIP Teófilo Pérez as part of STARS Safe School Routes. Additionally, an award ceremony will recognize the educational center for its Bronze medal in the STARS project, promoted by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT).
The activities will conclude with the “Tegueste at Human Scale” conference, featuring the screening of the documentary Pontevedra, the “car-free” city, followed by a panel discussion and debate on mobility and urban transformation.
