The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has reinforced surveillance at the Charcos de Valleseco, establishing a 24-hour service on weekends to combat increasing vandalism.

The council has modified the municipal security contract to extend protection to this popular bathing area during the summer months, given the persistence of uncivil acts. A guard has been responsible for preventing vandalism for several days, particularly affecting the restrooms and urban furniture, which are the most impacted areas.
Previous measures, such as increased police presence and the imposition of fines, have not managed to eradicate these behaviors, causing discontent among regular bathers. Municipal sources indicate that this surveillance service will initially be maintained throughout the summer, with night patrols on other days of the week.
The Charcos de Valleseco has become the point in the municipality with the highest incidence of vandalism against urban furniture, including stairs, railings, and fences. The latest repairs carried out by the Public Services department represented an investment of nearly 200,000 euros.
This access point to the sea, inaugurated two years ago after decades of neighborhood demands and an investment exceeding 13.6 million euros, has been the subject of constant damage requiring continuous repairs.
