The event will begin at 9:00 AM with various activities, and from 11:00 AM, the sports competitions will start, including children's and adult races. Those interested in participating can find all registration information on the website www.rainbowfamily.es.
The event is a color run adapted for all audiences, with the main objective of encouraging participation without distinction of ability, personal qualities, or social characteristics. All proceeds will be donated to the Canarian Foundation Pequeño Valiente to support children with cancer and their families.
The event was presented by Badel Albelo, president of the La Laguna OAD; María Rojas Estévez, Director General of Physical Activity and Sport of the Government of the Canary Islands; José Juan Jerez Castro, president of the Canarian Foundation Pequeño Valiente; and Lucía Fariña Quintero, Technical Sports Manager of the same entity.
Badel Albelo highlighted that the Rainbow Family “unites sport, inclusion, and solidarity around a cause that deserves all our support,” expressing his satisfaction that La Laguna is once again hosting this event and emphasizing its capacity to “foster coexistence, educate in values, and contribute to a more inclusive society.” He reaffirmed the Organization's commitment to initiatives that demonstrate that “sport can go far beyond competition and become a way to help others.”
María Rojas Estévez emphasized the importance of promoting accessible sport that generates opportunities and contributes positively to society, transmitting values to the youngest and teaching the importance of helping and working as a team. She thanked the foundation for its daily work and the collaborators and participants for making the initiative's growth possible.
José Juan Jerez Castro noted that the Rainbow Family is a day to “enjoy as a family, fill ourselves with color, and demonstrate that sport can be a tool to unite people and generate a positive impact on society.” He recalled that the foundation was born in 2006 from the initiative of parents to improve the quality of life for children with cancer and their families, and expressed his wish for La Laguna to be filled with happy and supportive families on November 7th.
Lucía Fariña Quintero detailed the registration process and organization, explaining that all event information and the registration form, with two available modalities: Kids and adult, are on the website. Registrations will be open until the day before the race, and bib collection will take place on Friday, November 6th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Las Mantecas Science and Technology Park.
