The Telde City Council and the Gran Canaria Cabildo are continuing to advance in the search for a definitive solution to the historic access problem to the rural settlement of El Gamonal, a demand from residents that has lasted for decades.

Both administrations have intensified efforts to resolve access to El Gamonal, a problem affecting residents for years and now in a crucial phase for its resolution. Following the institutional visit in July 2024, work is underway to identify and locate the owners of the land affected by the access road.
The access road is not registered as a public thoroughfare, which has hindered improvement interventions. The objective is to contact landowners to inform them of the planned actions and proceed with the possible cession of land strips to incorporate the route into public domain and study its conditioning.
The mayor of Telde, Juan Antonio Peña, expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the procedures, highlighting the commitment made to the residents and the joint work between both administrations. "After so many years of promises, El Gamonal finally has an advancing file and two administrations working together," he stated.
Peña emphasized the importance of collaboration with the Cabildo's Councilor for the Primary Sector, Miguel Hidalgo, and the technical teams. "We are not just talking about a road. We are talking about people, families who have the right to live in dignified conditions," he noted, reaffirming the commitment to continue working until a solution is found.
