The Autonomous Sports Body (OAD) of San Cristóbal de La Laguna has begun the renovation of the ‘fotofinish’ building at the Francisco Peraza Municipal Stadium, also known as ‘La Manzanilla’, with an investment of 20,187.08 euros and a two-month execution period.

This intervention aims to restore the space and ensure optimal conditions for local sports clubs. The building houses the ‘fotofinish’ cabin, a crucial technical element for athletics that allows for precise recording of finishes and timing.
Badel Albelo, president of the OAD and local Sports Councillor, highlighted the historical significance of ‘La Manzanilla’ for sports in La Laguna, particularly for athletics. "It deserves to be treated as such, and we must continue working to maintain it in the best possible condition," he stated.
The councillor added the City Council's commitment to improving this structure, which serves a fundamental technical function during competitions, ensuring it remains a benchmark in the municipality.
The works address the building's current condition, involving comprehensive improvements. These include waterproofing the roof, enhancing vertical walls, and repairing the external staircase, replacing metal steps and repainting the structure. Window grilles affected by oxidation will also be treated and repainted.
Through this project, the OAD continues its efforts in maintaining and improving municipal sports facilities, enabling clubs in La Laguna to conduct their activities in suitable and optimal environments.
