The Ministry of Economy, Industry, Trade and Self-Employed of the Government of the Canary Islands has opened a new call for its International Business Scholarship Program. According to the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) published yesterday, this edition offers 60 places for training in foreign trade for young people from the islands. Of these, 40 will allow students to undertake paid training internships abroad.
This initiative aims to enhance the professionalization of Canarian talent and responds to the demand from the archipelago's business environment for professionals capable of internationalization. The call follows the one launched at the beginning of the year, bringing the total number of scholarships promoted with Proexca to over a hundred this year.
“"This new call represents a firm commitment to our young talent. Not only do we provide them with direct immersion in foreign markets, but we are also creating a network of specialized agents. They will be the professionals who will guide the expansion of our local companies and who will identify and generate new international business opportunities for the Canary Islands."
The program is structured in two phases. The first consists of a master's degree to acquire skills in market access strategies and innovation. Subsequently, the 40 students with the best evaluations will proceed to the practical phase, integrating into the network of Spanish Economic and Commercial Offices Abroad (OFECOMES) and collaborating entities.
The requirements to apply for these scholarships include a university degree, registration in the Canary Islands, a minimum English level of B2, and not having previously received similar grants for internships abroad for more than six months.
The application submission period closes on October 16th, with 20 working days from the day after the call's publication in the BOC. All detailed information and the direct link for registration are available on the Proexca portal. The program is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus Canarias 2021-2027.
