Canary Islands airports maintain passenger volume in May

The islands welcomed 4,109,171 travelers in May, a similar figure to the previous year, with variations across specific airports.

Canary Islands airports recorded a total of 4,109,171 passengers in May, maintaining the same volume as the same month of the previous year, according to Aena data.

Gran Canaria airport led the list with 1,175,039 travelers, experiencing a slight increase of 1.5%. Meanwhile, the Tenerife South aerodrome saw its numbers decrease by 4.8%, down to 938,372 passengers.
Following were César Manrique-Lanzarote, with 682,989 passengers and a 0.8% drop; Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna, which increased by 3.9% to 636,405; Fuerteventura, with 504,264 and a 1.3% decrease; La Palma, which grew by 13.9% to 133,687; El Hierro, with 27,718 and an 11.7% increase; and La Gomera, which fell by 5.7% to 10,697.
Of the total passengers in the Canary Islands, 4,091,752 were on commercial flights. Of these, 1,938,069 traveled on domestic routes (0.5% more) and 2,153,683 on international flights (0.6% less than the previous year).
Additionally, 38,970 aircraft movements were managed, and 2,503 tons of cargo were transported across the islands during May.
In the cumulative period from January to May, Canary Islands airports handled 22,694,672 passengers, representing a 0.6% decrease compared to the same period in 2025. Of the 22,599,593 commercial travelers, 8,650,681 flew on domestic routes (0.7% less) and 13,948,912 on international routes (0.4% less).
