The Government of the Canary Islands and the State have signed an agreement that will allow the archipelago to receive over 2.3 billion euros, unlocking pending funds for infrastructure and social services.

The agreement reached this Monday includes the immediate release of 196.1 million euros for employment policies, poverty reduction, and strategic infrastructure. Key projects include investments in the Port of Granadilla and the Reina Sofia dock at the Port of La Luz and Las Palmas.
A central pillar of the deal is the guarantee that resources from the Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF) will not be counted within the regional financing system. Furthermore, a new framework has been established allowing the regional government to utilize 687 million euros of its surplus over the next three years to strengthen healthcare, education, and social policies.
Regarding the island of La Palma, the regional executive has made progress on a specific decree to be presented to the Council of Ministers in late August or early September. This regulation will include a 60% IRPF tax deduction for residents and a 100 million euro contribution to continue economic and social recovery efforts.
