The main objective of this initiative is to promote the inclusion, autonomy, and well-being of these young people, offering them training adapted to the labor market needs of the island, especially in sectors such as tourism, hospitality, automotive, building maintenance, and agriculture. The Temporary Joint Venture (UTE) Nexo Joven, which includes ICSE and CIP, has been responsible for designing the training proposal.
A total of twelve courses have been scheduled, covering activities such as room or kitchen assistant, room cleaning, and mechanics. It is expected to reach 250 participants from reception centers affiliated with the Government of the Canary Islands. Currently, six courses have already begun with 123 enrolled, 13 of whom are women. 77 young people have completed the theoretical-practical training and are starting internships in companies, notably those carried out in hotel chains on the island.
In addition to technical knowledge, participants receive training in Spanish, employment skills, and occupational risk prevention. The program also includes company visits to training centers to showcase job opportunities and meetings with representatives from companies such as Matinon, Satocan, Activa Canarias, and Hiperdino. Specific calls have been made for courses like Floor Operations, given the high demand in the hotel sector.
The program aims to motivate young people through example. A former student, Omar Brahim, who obtained a professional certificate in Basic Plumbing Operations and completed an internship at the Las Ramblas Shopping Center, shared his experience of overcoming challenges and achieving professional success in the center's maintenance team.
