“"It's always special to win a rally for the first time. I am very proud to have another event to tick off my personal list. The victory is beautiful because it's my first time in the Islands and because of the tough fight I had with my teammates, especially with Oliver Solberg. This Rally Islas Canarias is amazing; we felt a great atmosphere at all times, and the roads are truly enjoyable."

Nine-time world rally champion, Sébastien Ogier, has secured his first victory at the Rally Islas Canarias, a win he considers special and which allows him to make up for his second-place finish in the previous edition.
The French driver, who triumphed in the 50th edition of the event, expressed his satisfaction with his Toyota team's performance throughout the weekend. After beating his teammates, Ogier highlighted the choice of Gran Canaria as one of his key events of the season, praising the atmosphere and the quality of the stages.
The victory in Gran Canaria marks Ogier's first of the season, having finished second last year. This triumph adds to his impressive 68 career wins, maintaining the excitement of winning in a location where he had never done so before.
The champion also commented on his teammate Oliver Solberg's retirement after an incident on the Ingenio-Valsequillo stage, describing their duel as “great fun.” Ogier emphasized the importance of his Toyota's chassis, which he believes is key to the team's superiority in the championship, providing greater confidence to drive at the limit on demanding roads like those in the Canary Islands.
Looking ahead to the upcoming Rally de Portugal, scheduled from May 7th to 10th, Ogier hopes to continue his strong momentum. This event holds a special place for him, as it was where he secured his first world rally win in 2010, and he will aim to close the points gap to the championship leader in pursuit of his tenth world title.
