Three schools in Lanzarote held a tribute on Thursday in Tahíche to Juan Salvador Delgado Abreut, known as 'Nito', for his selfless efforts in school gardens.

The César Manrique Cabrera, María Auxiliadora, and Güime educational centers organized a heartfelt gathering to publicly acknowledge the contribution of this local farmer. 'Nito' has dedicated his time and personal resources to advising, sharing ancestral knowledge, and guiding activities in the school gardens, promoting the application of traditional agricultural wisdom.
The organizers of the tribute expressed their wish for 'Nito's' altruistic work, as well as his philosophy of life as a 21st-century farmer, to be recognized beyond the island. 'Nito', originally from Tahíche, comes from a family with deep roots in agriculture and livestock farming, a legacy he has chosen to keep alive, being the only one in his large family to continue this tradition since the age of 17.
The honoree shared his passion for agriculture, highlighting that he has recovered forgotten techniques for improving soils and nourishing crops, ensuring healthy plants and, consequently, a wholesome diet that strengthens the body. 'Nito' believes that children are the ideal recipients of this knowledge, so they can grow with a solid foundation of health and energy.
