Iberdrola Injects Over 300 Million Euros into the Canary Islands in Two Years

The energy company highlights its fiscal contribution and investment in renewable infrastructure and electric vehicle charging points across the islands.

Iberdrola has generated an economic impact of over 300 million euros in the Canary Islands during the last two years, solidifying its role as a key economic driver for the region.

The energy company announced that its fiscal contribution in the islands has increased by more than 3% in 2025, nearing 125 million euros. Iberdrola defines itself as a long-term business model focused on generating progress and well-being through business development, investments, and job creation, aiming to electrify the economy.
In the local market, Iberdrola achieved an electricity market share in the Canary Islands exceeding 10% in 2025. Furthermore, it has deployed an electric vehicle charging infrastructure with 310 points across 56 locations on all islands. The company has also formalized electricity supply contracts with 27 public administrations.
Regarding renewable generation, Iberdrola has recently constructed the Finca San Juan wind farm in Arico, Tenerife, with a capacity of 17.3 MW, capable of powering approximately 16,000 homes and avoiding 28,000 tons of CO2 annually. In Tenerife, it also operates the Chimiche wind farm (18.3 MW), developed with local small businesses. In Fuerteventura, the Llanos Pelos III photovoltaic plant (7 MW) supplies over 4,000 homes and has received the UNEF Sustainability Seal.
