The Minister of Health has expressed her astonishment at the recent accusations made by the President of the Canary Islands, whom she has earnestly requested to stop spreading alarming and erroneous information regarding the outbreak.

The head of Health stated her surprise at the remarks from the regional president, with whom, she asserts, she has been in daily contact since last Tuesday to provide all relevant information about the situation.
In response to the Canarian president's persistent claims of a lack of information from the central Government, the minister refrained from making disparaging comments but emphasized the constant communication and the “special treatment” given to the president, informing him first of important matters such as a ship docking due to weather conditions.

"I have been speaking with this gentleman daily, I would say, since last Tuesday, providing him with all the information."

Despite the active participation of archipelago technicians in decision-making, the minister noted that the regional president “was not at the command post.” She reiterated that the evacuation and repatriation operation of the MV Hondius has been an “example of cooperation, diplomacy, and efficiency,” calling it a “success” despite external questioning.
This success, according to the minister, is attributed to not yielding to “sterile controversies” or attempts at boycott, maintaining decisions under strict epidemiological, safety, and human criteria. Finally, she urged the Canarian president on the importance of not generating doubts or fear, as this “deepens public distrust in public health.”

"Please, do not alarm, do not misinform, because in yourself you are a health asset."
