Normality has returned to the El Mirador Shopping Center one day after the violent robbery suffered by the José Luis jewelry store. Customers continue to frequent the shops for their purchases, especially taking advantage of sales, and occupy tables in the center's cafes and restaurants, also seeking refuge from the heat.
A worker from a store adjacent to the robbed jewelry store described the situation as "as if nothing had happened," reflecting the general sense of normalcy prevailing in the center. Shops continue to receive a steady flow of customers seeking to escape the high temperatures.
The only visible trace of the incident is the broken storefront of the jewelry store, which remains closed to the public with cardboard covering the hole. A security guard monitors the area while the jewelry store staff takes inventory. According to the guard, management has instructed staff not to discuss the incident.
The robbery, carried out by four hooded men, caused moments of chaos. An employee from a nearby store recounted seeing smoke and hearing shouts, leading her to lock herself in her shop with her colleague until the police arrived.
After the initial scare, the event generated curiosity among some customers, who approached to record what happened and even took the opportunity to buy products from adjacent stores. A sneaker shop acknowledged selling more items that day due to the interest generated by the robbery.
The jewelry store became a focal point, with many customers stopping in front of the premises to discuss the incident or take photographs. "You see more people going up the escalators and taking pictures," admitted a worker from a store adjacent to the jewelry shop.
This is not the first such incident at El Mirador; in 2025, a similar robbery occurred at the Claudia jewelry store. Furthermore, the robbery takes place shortly after other incidents at the Las Terrazas and Cita shopping centers in Playa del Inglés.
Unlike a previous robbery that made customers reluctant to return to the mall, this time the response has been one of normalcy. "People have taken it as normal," stated an employee from a nearby restaurant. Customers, while denying fear, do point out the need for increased security at the center's entrances.
However, an employee from a nearby store, Nereida, believes that the robberies have affected visitor numbers, considering the area "a bit problematic." Despite this, the heist has not managed to intimidate a clientele accustomed to such events, nor has it disrupted the daily routine of workers and businesses the day after.
