The gastrorock venue NYC Taxi, an emblem of the now-defunct Playa Viva Route, has scheduled a live music concert afternoon for this Saturday, July 25th. The event aims to revive the spirit of a circuit that years ago fostered open-air music gatherings in the capital's main streets.
Starting at 5:30 PM, the terrace of the venue, managed by musician and promoter José Moma, will host a lineup of three local bands with diverse styles and original repertoire on Las Canteras Promenade. Admission is free, with the condition that no outside beverages are consumed.
The headlining band will be The Cheapest Red Wine, a project born in Gran Canaria in 2023, blending rock, psychedelia, grunge, and indie sounds. Composed of experienced musicians such as Thiago Halmensch-lager (vocals and guitar), Marcial Bonill (bass), Juanma Barroso (guitar), and Jacinto Ojeda (drums), they released their self-titled debut album in April 2025.
Also performing will be Ignotos, another Gran Canaria band formed in 2023, which combines rockabilly, rock blues, and classic rock with lyrics about daily life experiences and intense emotions. The lineup is completed by Jodido Señor Moma, the new solo project of José Moma, described as the most intimate and honest of his 30-year rock career.
These bands have performed in various live music venues in the city and on the island, such as Canarias en Vivo, El Sótano Analógico, and Buenos Aires Jazz Café, and will now have the opportunity to present their sonic universes with the sea of Las Canteras as a backdrop.
