The security operation for the imminent visit of Pope Leo XIV to the Canary Islands was detailed this Tuesday by the Government Delegation and the National Police Corps. For this unprecedented deployment, a significant contingent of officers and police vehicles has been mobilized, even transported via Army aircraft.
The National Police is also responsible for guarding the popemobile, which arrived on the island this Tuesday and is currently at the Superior Headquarters in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The official presentation of the security deployment will be attended by prominent authorities, including the Government Delegate in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana; the Chief Superintendent of Police, Jesús Gómez Martín; the General Commissioner of Citizen Security, Francisco López Gordo; and the Commissioner of Citizen Security for Las Palmas, Eva María Boillos. The event will take place in Plaza de Santa Ana.
